As a computational chemist, one often needs to perform a virtual screening using a large database of compounds. When our clients do not have an organic chemistry platform for synthesis available, an interesting option is to screen for commercially available compounds first. If one or several hits are obtained, the scaffolds can be further modified (retaining the interaction points) in order to get new chemical entities and afford the intellectual property process.
